This beginning class is great for anyone interested in learning beautiful professional finishes to use personally in their own homes or to use professionally in a faux finishing business. Even though this is considered an introductory class, it is not a watch-and-learn workshop. Hands-on work with the products, introduction to many professional products and tools, and networking with the pros is invaluable in becoming proficient in the field of faux finishing.
Add depth to your portfolio or variety to your home with this collection of wall finishes. You will be excited to use new techniques such as iridescent alligator skin, embossed leather and cracked plaster. When the class is finished, you will have sample boards to showcase your new skills and the knowledge you need to be able to apply these finishes professionally.
This is a study of “real” plasters rather than art plasters. This is a Venetian plaster class. We will be completing sample boards using such plasters as marmorino, veneciano, antico, tuscany, terra. These plasters are lime based or cement based so can be burnished to a marble-like sheen. Some of them are appropriate for floors and countertops. Wax, mica powders, and glazes will be used to produce beautiful aged “old world” finishes.
What if your wall is already painted or you don't want to get into mud and trowel work? Just Top Coats is perfect for you. This class will teach you how to add that extra touch to finished walls to make them really special. Learn to work with glazes, and washes in multiple layers to create various effects like aging, dragging and stippling.
Work amazing magic on your non-antique furniture. You will learn to apply several creative finishes in this two day class. All materials are provided for you to learn to apply plaster techniques to furniture as well as embossing, inlay effects and many more.
